Abstract

This research aims to explore the meaning of the marsiadapari tradition in the Toba Batak tradition and explore its relationship with the Bible's teachings in Galatians 6:2, which emphasizes the importance of bearing each other's burdens. Marsiapadapari, as a tradition of mutual cooperation that has been passed down from generation to generation, reflects the strong values of solidarity in the life of the Batak people. By using qualitative methods through literature reviews and case studies, this research seeks to reveal the relationship between cultural concepts and theological teachings. The results show that there are fundamental similarities between marsiadapari and the teaching of love found in Galatians 6:2. This emphasizes the importance of collective cooperation, active participation, and the presence of the Spirit of Christ in easing the burden together. These findings provide a deeper understanding of the role of local culture in strengthening Christian spiritual values within the community.
