Peranan Guru PAK dan BP (Pendidikan Agama Kristen & Budi Pekerti) Dalam Meningkatkan Karakter Siswa di SMP Negeri 4 Tarutung

Abstract

Christian Religious Education (PAK) has an important role in shaping the character of students, especially in SMP Negeri 4 Tarutung which has diverse backgrounds. PAK teachers are not only responsible for teaching Christian doctrine and values, but also in shaping the personality of students who have integrity, are responsible, and have love for others. This study aims to analyze the role of PAK teachers in shaping the character of students in SMP Negeri 4 Tarutung and the challenges faced in the process of forming these students' characters. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach, this study collected data through observation, interviews with teachers and students, and analysis of related documents. The results of the study showed that PAK teachers in SMP Negeri 4 Tarutung play a role as role models, facilitators, and motivators in building student character. However, there are several challenges such as limited teaching time, lack of support from the school environment, and the negative influence of social media. Therefore, synergy is needed between teachers, parents, and schools to strengthen character education based on Christian values.
