Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of Jesus' teachings as recorded in Matthew 19 in fostering prayer development among early childhood children. Matthew 19 portrays Jesus' attitude of deep concern for children, emphasizing the importance of closeness to God through prayer and inviting them to come to Him with sincere and childlike faith. Using a qualitative approach, this study analyzes the principles of Jesus' teachings that can be applied in the context of religious education for early childhood, particularly in cultivating prayer habits. The findings reveal that Jesus' teachings on humility, simplicity, and dependence on God serve as a strong foundation for teaching young children about prayer as a form of personal relationship with God. These teachings can be implemented through engaging methods appropriate to children's cognitive development, ensuring that prayer becomes an integral part of their spiritual lives from an early age. This research contributes to the development of early childhood religious education curricula, emphasizing prayer habituation as a key means of introducing children to a healthy and growing spiritual life.
