Abstract

Developing the ethical competence of Christian Religious Education teachers is very important to increase their professionalism, beyond academic and pedagogical abilities. This article discusses the role of ethical competence in improving the quality of PAK teaching, where teachers are expected to not only master teaching material, but also be role models in implementing Christian values, such as honesty, love and integrity. Ethical competency includes attitudes and behavior that support the creation of a positive learning environment. This article also identifies challenges in the development of teacher ethics, such as a lack of ethics-focused training and difficulties in implementing moral values in the classroom. As a solution, several ethical development strategies are proposed, including ongoing training, self-reflection, and strengthening ethical culture in schools. Qualitative research methods with a library approach were used to collect data from various related literature sources. The research results show that increasing ethical competence can improve the quality of Christian religious education and strengthen student character. Therefore, developing ethical competence must be a priority in developing the professionalism of PAK teachers.
