This study aims to understand the implementation of the Independent Curriculum in Christian Religious Education (CRE) learning at the high school level. Research was conducted through a literature review to identify various challenges and opportunities that emerged in the implementation of a curriculum of a flexible and learner-centered nature. The Independent Curriculum offers a more creative and innovative approach in PAK learning, thus allowing teachers to structure a more varied learning process. However, the implementation of this curriculum also faces constraints such as the proximity of facilities, lack of preparedness of educators’ personnel, as well as the presence of barriers in the form of resistance to change. The results of the study showed that the successful implementation of the Independent Curriculum in PAK was influenced by several key factors, including support from the school authorities, adequate training for teachers, as well as active participation of students in the learning process. Additionally, effective learning design needs to pay attention to local conditions and learners’ characteristics so that curriculum objectives can be achieved
